Our first official day of STEAM was Wednesday September 4, 2024. Our Wednesdays look pretty different this school year. They now take place in two different spaces: on our main campus for the middle school and high schoolers to give them a time catering to their specific educational needs, and in different natural settings for our new Nature School Program.
Our upper grade kids are exploring Speech and Composition this semester and a hands on Science class complete with fun lab coats. They especially enjoyed getting to have a day of learning all to themselves, no little kiddos around.
For Nature School, we met at Sky Meadow State Park’s Children’s Discovery Area on a beautiful day. The kids received interactive lesson on how to “Leave No Trace” at all the different nature settings we will be exploring throughout the semester. They also got to go on a sensory hike where they wrote or drew their observations in a handy journal they will update all semester.
On Thursday, all grades met on our main campus. The upper grades started classes in Art and Computer Science. The lower grades explored Animal Science and History. While Literacy is the Thursday theme for our pre-k and kindergarteners.
Monday, September 9, 2024 rounded out our first full week of STEAM activities. Our pre-k and kindergarten children had a STEAM-themed day. Lower grades enjoyed Art and Math whole upper grades learned about Ancient History and Civics.
We are excited to learn and grow together this semester.
We had a great first week! Thank you, all, for making STEAM School such a special place.
