Scraposaurs! At the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley

STEAM visited the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley for the much anticipated exhibit of Minnesota artist, Dale Lewis. But first we filled our bellies with a picnic at The Picnic Mounds on the grounds of the museum.

After lunch, the museum’s educator Sarah Perks led us through the gardens to view the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals created entirely by scrap metal and found objects. Each sculpture had a sign that told about the sculpture and the animal it depicted.

We had a great time exploring. Most students agreed the Dino sculpture was their favorite (most unaware of the famous Flintstone’s character) mainly because they could sit on it.

We can’t wait to come back for another fun day of appreciating art and the beautiful grounds of the MSV!
