“For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo”

Several STEAM kids and teachers spent the day at Blackfriars Playhouse this week to see Romeo and Juliet. It was a fantastic production-so well-acted, thoughtfully costumed, and just overall incredibly engaging. Our middle schoolers are currently reading R and J in their Wednesday class, but even those who weren’t familiar with the characters and storyline were able to follow the story because the actors were so effective.
At Blackfriars, the lights stay on for shows, which intensifies the intimacy of the space. In addition, four of our students had the opportunity to sit on the stage in “gallant seats” for the performance. This was an intense show that was…yes…full of woe. It was also very funny and clever, as much of Shakespeare is!
The kids hardly took their eyes off the stage! We hope to return for another Homeschool Day at Blackfriars soon; it is an incredible resource less than 2 hrs from home.
After the show, some of us went on a second field trip to Buc-ees 😊
