We will visit the walk-through zoo first at 1pm. You may choose to continue on to the drive-through portion of the zoo on your own (this takes an additional 20 minutes) if you would like.

Nature School- Elizabeth's Furnace

From I-66: Take Exit 6 (Front Royal) and proceed south on SR 340/522 for 1.3 miles until you come to a stoplight. Turn right onto VA 55 West for 5 miles to the small community of Waterlick. Turn left onto SR 678 and go approximately 6 miles. Elizabeth Furnace Day Use will be on your left.

Nature School- Blandy Experimental Farm

Join us at the beautiful Virginia State Arboretum/Blandy Experimental Farm where we will explored the grounds. We will check out the Ginkgo Grove as well as the bamboo forest. Then we will make our way out to the meadow and talk learn about how fire can be good for certain species.

Nature School- Riverside Preserve

Join us for a day of adventure as we look for signs of wildlife and discuss how they are preparing for the upcoming winter.

Nature School- Shenandoah River State Park

Bird’s and Beaks- During this program, students will get the chance to discover what it’s like to be a bird on the hunt. We will meet at picnic shelter #1, all the way at the bottom of the hill and to the left.

We’ll gather at the Children’s Discovery Area for some free play. After start with some fun games. After lunch we’ll go for a short hike and do some nature journaling.
