Sky Meadows State Park
This week’s nature school was a chilly, breezy and wet one. While many were quite cold we continued on and managed a good time.
The class topic centered around the Harvest Moon. We began exploring the lunar cycle and I shared a moon phases chart. We discussed why the harvest moon was unique. The full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, rising early and helping farmers harvest crops.
We took a nature walk to find moon connections and look for seasonal changes. We found paw paws too!
We took to our nature journals and I offered to option of watercolors. Many stuck with their color pencils. While we were journaling and eating lunch, I introduced some indigenous stories and folklore of the harvest moon and moon.
Thank you for joining me!
